This carefully sequenced route takes you through Tanzania's finest ecosystems — each destination chosen to build upon the last, creating a seamless arc of discovery from arrival to departure.

Each leg of the journey was chosen with intention — to showcase Tanzania's extraordinary range of habitats, wildlife densities, and landscapes. The optional Zanzibar extension provides the perfect barefoot finale after days in the bush.
There's a meaningful difference between booking a tour and traveling with someone who is deeply invested in your experience. When you join this journey, you're not just purchasing a seat on a departure — you're traveling with a dedicated host who has done the homework so you don't have to.
From the moment you reserve your space to the day you return home, every logistical detail is managed on your behalf — accommodations, transfers, park fees, and more.
African Travel Inc. has researched and road-tested every camp, guide, and operator on this route. Nothing is booked without firsthand confidence in the quality.
With a maximum of 12 travelers, this journey offers the intimacy of a private safari with the camaraderie of a like-minded group.
Have questions at 11pm before departure? Nicole is reachable. Need guidance mid-trip? She's there. The support doesn't end when the plane takes off.
From ancient elephant corridors to the world's most famous wildlife arena — this journey is built around experiences that simply cannot be replicated anywhere else on earth.
Tanzania's best-kept secret — ancient baobabs, massive elephant herds, and remarkable bird diversity in an atmosphere of serene solitude.
Descend into the world's largest intact caldera — a natural amphitheater teeming with the densest concentration of wildlife on the continent.
The stuff of legend. Sweeping golden plains, resident lion prides, cheetahs at dawn, and a sky so vast it redefines your sense of scale.
Evenings end with sundowners overlooking the plains and nights spent in beautifully appointed tented suites — wild outside, supremely comfortable within.
People remember experiences, not departure times. Below is a sense of how your journey unfolds — day by day, destination by destination. The lions, naturally, reserve the right to improvise.
Touch down in Arusha, Tanzania's safari gateway. Transfer to your hotel, settle in, and let the anticipation build over a welcome dinner.
Enter the baobab-studded landscapes of Tarangire National Park. Morning and afternoon game drives reveal elephant herds, big cats, and extraordinary birdlife.
Traverse the lush Ngorongoro Highlands and descend into the Crater floor — a UNESCO World Heritage site unlike anything you've experienced.
Four full days on the iconic plains of the Central Serengeti. Morning game drives, big cat sightings, and evenings under an impossibly star-filled sky.
Return to Arusha for a final night and a chance to reflect on everything you've witnessed. A celebration dinner to close the adventure.
Fly home carrying memories that will last a lifetime — or continue on to Zanzibar for a sun-drenched extension on the Indian Ocean.
Accommodation on this journey is far more than a place to sleep. Each camp has been personally selected for its setting, service, and soul — properties that exist in true harmony with the wilderness surrounding them. Here is a sampling:

Location: Deep within Tarangire National Park, overlooking a seasonal river frequented by elephants at dusk.

Location: Perched on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, with sweeping views into the caldera below.
Location: Set in the heart of the Central Serengeti, positioned in prime big-cat territory.
Tanzania's ecosystem supports one of the most extraordinary concentrations of wildlife on earth. On any given game drive, your naturalist guide may stop the vehicle for a dozen remarkable encounters — each one a story worth telling.
Africa's apex predator — spotted regularly in the Central Serengeti's resident prides.
Tarangire hosts some of Tanzania's largest elephant herds — an unforgettable welcome to the bush.
The most elusive of the Big Five — patient game drives in the Serengeti often reward with sightings.
The critically endangered black rhino finds refuge on the Ngorongoro Crater floor — rare and remarkable.
Masai giraffes browse the tree canopy above the savanna — an iconic silhouette against the African sky.
The world's fastest land animal — often spotted scanning the plains from a termite mound at sunrise.
Magnificent in motion — zebra herds cross the Serengeti in their thousands alongside wildebeest.
The great migration is a continuous cycle — and Tanzania's year-round wildlife means no wrong season to visit.
For those who want to see the Serengeti from an entirely different vantage point, a sunrise balloon safari is one of the most memorable experiences Africa has to offer. Drift silently above the plains as the first light of morning illuminates the landscape below — zebra, elephant, and giraffe moving through the golden savanna like living artwork.
After ten days in the Tanzanian bush, there is something deeply satisfying about ending your journey on the shores of the Indian Ocean. Zanzibar — the Spice Island — offers a perfect counterpoint to the wild energy of safari: unhurried, sun-warmed, and impossibly beautiful.
Pristine white-sand beaches with warm turquoise water — ideal for unwinding after days of early game drives.
Wander the UNESCO-listed labyrinthine streets of Stone Town, where Swahili, Arab, and colonial history converge beautifully.
Visit working spice farms and discover why Zanzibar has been a legendary trading hub for cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg for centuries.
The coral reefs surrounding Zanzibar are alive with color — guided snorkeling excursions reveal an extraordinary underwater world.
This is a fully hosted, end-to-end journey. From the moment you land in Tanzania to the moment you depart, the details are handled — so you can be fully present for every extraordinary moment.

Planning a safari raises great questions. Here are honest answers to the ones travelers ask most often.
This journey is designed for moderate activity levels. Expect comfortable game drives in 4x4 vehicles, optional short guided walks, and easy exploration at camps. You don't need to be athletic — just curious and ready to embrace the experience.
No vaccinations are specifically required for Tanzania, but we recommend consulting your doctor or a travel health clinic well in advance of departure. A full health briefing document will be provided to all travelers.
Wi-Fi is available at most properties, but connectivity in remote areas is intentionally limited — intermittent, slow, and not available around the clock. Many travelers find this to be one of the trip's unexpected gifts. Tanzania has a way of reminding you that some things are worth being present for.
A comprehensive packing guide will be provided upon booking. The short answer: think neutral tones — tan, khaki, olive, and beige. Layers for cool mornings. Comfortable walking shoes. A quality camera. Less is genuinely more in the bush.
The Great Migration is a continuous, year-round cycle — not a single seasonal event. One of the advantages of this particular itinerary is that we focus on the Central Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, where wildlife density remains exceptional regardless of where the herds are. Animals in the Crater stay year-round. You won't be chasing a moment — you'll be immersed in one.
October is an excellent time to visit Tanzania. Temperatures are warm and predominantly sunny, typically ranging from 80–85°F during game drives. The short rains may begin in late October, bringing brief afternoon showers that refresh the landscape and rarely disrupt activities.
The memories from safari don't come from checking destinations off a list. They come from the quiet moments — watching elephants cross the road in front of your vehicle, hearing lions call after dark, seeing the Serengeti stretch all the way to the horizon. This is that journey.
